A Natural Stone Hearth is the natural choice when looking for a hearth to compliment your new stove. Machined stone, be it limestone, yorkstone, gritstone or sandstone, provides a durable and flat surface which will take the general abuse involved in burning a real fire.
Contrary to common belief, natural stone is
not difficult to keep clean. For light marking, a rub with a damp cloth is usually sufficient, and warm soapy water and a scrubbing brush will see off all but the most stubborn marks. If that fails, the stone can be brought back to "as new" with the application of warm soapy water, a carborundum stone (bought at hardware stores for sharpening knives and chisels) and a generous helping of elbow grease.

Just a Small Selection of Hearths available:

Five Piece Yorkstone Hearth   Five Piece Yorkstone Hearth

Top grade sandstone hearth, angled and bevalled and cut in five pieces to give generous expansion joints for the hottest fires.

Two piece Kemple Hearth.   Two piece Brown Sandstone Hearth.

Lancashire Gritstone hearth with front section in one piece. Not recommended for solid fuel but fine for gas stoves. Solid fuel would require at least one more expansion joint.

  Basic Yorkstone Hearth.

Shown here in Yorkstone hearths can be cut to any shape, size or thickness.

Curved or facetted hearths are ideal for stoves fitted in the corner of a room.

Three Piece Bathstone.   Three Piece "Bathstone".

Square, bevalled Cotswold Limestone hearth. "Bathstone" is an open grained Cotswold limestone, cream in colour with grey fossilled marking.

This picture clearly shows the sharp detailing possible with the fine grain structure of Gritstone and Yorkstone.

Unlike Yorkstone and gritstone, Bathstone, or Cotswold limestone, has a much more open grain giving a softer edge to carved details.
