There are two basic types of Flue Lining Systems:

Stainless Steel Flexible Flue Liners Permanent Chimney Flue lining systems
Best for:
Stoves
Boilers
Aga type ranges
Other appliances with flues up to 150mm
Best for:
Open Fires
Pre-cast Gas Flues
Large flue stoves
Appliances with flues over 150mm

Stainless steel flue liners are ideal for stoves etc. with small diameter flue outlets. They are our first choice for stoves which, typically have a flue diameter of 125mm to 150mm.Above this size it can be impossible to fit a liner and permanent flue lining becomes necessary. These employ a durable material which is bonded directly on to the structure of the chimney flue. Early products such as CICO and Thermocrete employ a concrete-type of material which is poured down the chimney around an inflatable tubular former. When the concrete has set, the former is deflated and removed, leaving a smooth round flue.
A new product which has real benefits over the concrete based products is ELDFAST.
Eldfast is a ceramic based product which eliminates the inflatable former and it's attendant reduction of flue capacity.

As part of our stove installation service, we regularly carry out flue lining. We use a variety of high quality stainless steel flue liners which are quick to install, enhance flue performance yet can easily be removed should the requirement change. For the catagories of flue lining listed above, we have chosen the Eldfast system. It's advantages over Cico and Thermocrete - type products are quite significant and it is approved by Hetas and NHBC.

Flue Building
When an appliance requires a flue where none exists, we usually build a modular flue from interlocking twin-wall flue pipes. The specification of the flue depends on the application; solid fuel requiring a higher specification than gas or 28 sec. oil.

Modular flues give excellent performance, are quick to build and cost significantly less than masonary chimneys. When built within the room, they can be disguised by a false chimney breast.
